Real Estate 101: Drumming Up Business

Conduct a real estate seminarAs a new real estate agent, you are always looking for new, creative ways to boost your visibility and get a little new business, right?

At, we want to help you boost you business with real estate print marketing and with other steps you can take to rock your marketing dollar.

One way to gain new local clients is to team up with local lawyers, home inspectors, bankers and other professionals in related fields to offer homebuying seminars for civic groups, community groups and continuing education organizations.

Select Your Focus

First Time Buyers – You may want to help guide first-time buyers through the home buying process. That seminar would be educating them about the process, the things they need to do before applying for their first loan, the importance of good credit (you may want to bring in a credit repair specialist to present), and all the details that will get them from browsing homes they like to closing on the home of their dreams.

Real Estate Investors – Another option would be to offer a real estate investment themed seminar to discuss how to take advantage of the high inventory, low interest rates, and short-sale or foreclosure homes currently available. Having an investment planner and/or specialized banking professional on hand for this one would be a great idea!

Empty Nesters – For those who have raised their children and are looking for a home that better meets their needs now, you might consider offering a seminar focused on downsizing for empty nesters and mature single home owners.

You should have a contractor who specializes in conversions for aging at home on hand for this one. You may also want to consider offering a questionnaire during the seminar to help your potential clients determine if they would be best suited for aging in place, a condo lifestyle, a progressive retirement community, or another option.

By helping this demographic you will not only help them determine where they are moving next — you will also be the obvious choice as a listing agent for their current home once the decision is made.

Regardless of the focus you select, you will want to create information packets with promotional materials from all presenting professionals. You should include their information under your brand (by collecting all the information into a folder emblazoned with your business card sticker, for example) as the organizer of the event.

This would also be a wonderful time to give away promotional items (like real estate branded bookmarks, brochures with helpful information, magnetic calendars, and checklists printed on your own real estate letterhead). Save extra money by selecting from our New Agent Starter packages to get your real estate stationery at an even bigger savings!
