How to Create Your Real Estate Tagline

How to write your real estate taglineWhat is a Tagline?

A tagline is a short phrase or sentence that describes who you are and what you do. It should:

  1. Be exacting and specific
  2. Target your ideal clients
  3. Differentiate you from your peers and the competition
  4. Be easy to remember

Creating the perfect tagline isn’t difficult, but it will require some thought. Crafting the perfect tagline will require a little effort on your part, but we can help!

Your Tagline Should Reflect You

It should reflect you, your area and the people you serve.

  • Consider your market – if your area has a specific feature, nickname, or passion — you may want to include language to reflect that. Maybe the local college basketball team is all the rage (and you like the team too!), maybe your area has a nickname you want to include to show the familiarity you have with the area, or maybe there’s a point of interest (historic landmark, geographical feature, or famous product) from your area that will be useful.
  • Consider your own interests – don’t be afraid to let your personality show through. Sometimes the best clients are “like-minded” clients. One real estate agent I know specializes in helping dog lovers find the best house. Why? Because she’s a dog lover, she volunteers at the local humane society and she genuinely likes working with people who have, or want, to include a dog in their family.
  • Include any area of specialization or specific services – if you don’t have a niche market, you may want to consider developing one. Niching your services doesn’t mean you can’t offer others, it means you market yourself to a specific market. Just because your tagline says, “Specializing in Lakefront Retirement Condos” doesn’t mean you won’t sell a house to a first time buyer, does it?

What to Avoid

Avoid egotism. Even if you ARE the top agent in your region, that’s not good tagline information. Too many agents call themselves the “top this-or-that” and it has lost all importance through overuse. Besides, it makes you sound aloof and full of yourself, when you WANT to sound approachable and competent.

Once you develop your tagline, be sure to include it on your real estate business cards, your correspondence and any other marketing materials you utilize.
